Clubs at CU include a chess club, book club, garden club and service clubs such as our Kids Kindness Club. Adult sponsors oversee all club meetings, off-campus events and community outreach activities.

CU's Kids Kindness Club helps students experience the joy of giving. As their lives touch other lives – through their relationships with teachers, friends and classmates – students learn good citizenship, gain self-esteem and develop a sense of belonging in the world. Adult sponsors attend all outreach activities with the children. Here is a list of outreach events for the 2008/2009 school year.
Race For the Cure, an event to raise awareness to breast cancer, is supported by Children’s University. The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is the world’s largest series of 5K runs/fitness events and is now held in more than 100 U.S. cities and several foreign countries.

Town Hall Estates Nursing Home
Each month a Children’s University class visits this retirement center as part of an ongoing outreach project. Children help decorate the center as well as provide music, entertainment, gifts, love and friendship.

In October, the administration and students invite residents of the retirement home to Children’s University for an afternoon of love, friendship and kindness. Learn more about the latest event.

School Supply Drive In September, CU students collect school supplies to donate to underprivileged students at area schools. This year, the Kindness Club donated two SUV’s full of supplies.

Susan G. Komen Foundation Students collect donations to assist in finding a cure to cancer in October. In 2008, CU students held a pajama party and collected $1,700 for the cause.

Mission Arlington Each November, students collect "turkey bucks" (or dollars) to buy turkeys for Mission Arlington. Last year, the Kindness Club donated 40 turkeys and hopes to beat that number this year. Sixty of our students will go to Mission Arlington to separate canned goods and stuff Thanksgiving baskets.

Toys for Tots Toy Drive In December, students collect toys to give to children in need throughout the community. Last year, a Marine Corps Representative came to school to collect the 300-plus toys our students collected.
Ice Out Hunger Mission Arlington, Arlington Charities and Humane Animal Shelters – January is our month for collecting canned goods, cat food and dog food to donate to area charities. We have done this for the past 2 years and the response from students and families has been overwhelming.

American Heart Association The Kindness Club in conjunction with CU’s physical education classes collects money each February for the American Heart Association. We hope our efforts make a difference for people with heart disease and support education to prevent future heart disease.

Cooks Children's Hospital To help bring joy to hospitalized children, students collect and make books and comics to share. Student government representatives and cheerleaders personally deliver the books to the children each March.

CU is Going Green April is the month the Kindness Club participates in a recycling program to improve CU and the community around us.

Student Orientation, or Jump Forward Day, held annually, gives students a look at classroom subjects and activities for the upcoming school year. Call (817) 784-6655 for specific dates and times.

Classroom Observations of classes in session are encouraged for all parents. To schedule a time, please call or e-mail Regina Wright at

Meet the Teacher, held the Saturday before each fall semester, gives parents and students a chance to meet their teachers before school begins.

Bright Minds Night introduces parents to the fall/spring curriculum along with CU policies and procedures.

Garden Club students cultivate and tend our campus gardens. Our Garden Club is a great way for students to make friends in the community, enjoy the rewards of gardening and learn about plant life..
