Classroom Orientation
Four-year-olds at Children’s University
enjoy our
literature-based approach to phonics using rhymes, rhythms, and chants to build their reading readiness. They spend the year
preparing for Kindergarten with creative storytelling and decodable stories to help strengthen their critical thinking and creativity. Our
Pre-K math readiness program introduces skills like graphing and
recording, predicting outcomes, number recognition, and geometric shapes. To begin forming an understanding of math concepts, Pre-K students explore simple addition and subtraction as well as an
introduction to spatial concepts.
Students gain the social skills needed for elementary school by learning to share, take turns, ask questions,
follow directions, and
cooperate with others. Our rich Pre-K curriculum also includes an introduction to computer software, Spanish,
simple machines, earth and natural science, kitchen chemistry, art appreciation, rhythm instruments,
meteorology, and motor development through dance and games. |
